The ACTA Trap Hall of Fame Inductees

Violet 'Tim' Reade

Year Inducted: 2010

First lady to be inducted into the ACTA Hall of Fame. First female to reach 22 yard handicap in the old system.

During 1956 in Melbourne when the Olympics were being held, Violet took part in a qualifying competition at the Olympic shooting venue in Laverton. Shooting 94/100 falling short of the 100 targets required. She was the only woman in the running.

Violet started shooting in 1948, first by shooting rabbits and then got into clay target shooting. That was at a time when it was only men shooting. For women she was a trailblazer, there were no seperate sections for women to compete in as there was not many women shooters around but she managed to beat the men in many championships.

In 1958 when she won the Keilor Plains mixed birds Championship at Keilor, she was ranked one of the best trap shots in Australia.

She is a life member of Point Cook and Pucapunil.
